Vera Tussing – Body, Object, Connection
A group of dancers appear, connected by brightly coloured sticks that press into their hands, arms, thighs, shoulders and ribs. They crawl, scurry and circle through the museum; each movement demands constant pressure, constant response. The leader changes continually, with everyone responding in real time. The result is a temporary sculptural body that moves according to its own rules.
Body, Object, Connection starts at the entrance to the MSK, meandering through the museum’s galleries and interacting with the collection. Passing visitors can engage at any stage with the 45-minute performance. The perspective shifts continuously, from body to artwork, from watching to being watched. Dance and sculpture merge in a non-hierarchical heterotopia.
