Pak Yan Lau builds sound from fragments. A prepared piano, tape, children's toys and electronics from a fragile system of disturbing details. What you hear is similar to a memory replaying itself over and again, with subtle differences each time. Like a seismograph, Lau scans the space for random disruptions and inaudible shifts. Her performance during YOU ARE HERE – but not really is not so much a concert as a sound sculpture-in-progress, where nothing is finished, but everything resonates.
