In Songs of Disconnection, Maarten Seghers focuses on 'failing - and therefore clear' communication, a central concept in his work. With Aya Suzuki, Simon Lenski, George van Dam and Adrien Lambinet, he has created a performance in which sound is constantly derailed: fragile, clashing, physical. These new songs are a confused outburst: everything 'could be', nothing 'is'. They originate in an excited visualisation of unreachable places and incomprehensible times. The abstract libretto balances between engagement and indifference.
What you hear is not harmony but a series of attempts at connection.
