Merel Vercammen is a classically trained violinist who graduated cum laude from the Royal College of Music of London. In 2019, she launched her surprising album The Zoo, which she approached with something rare in classical music: every track was improvised, always in dialogue with a different musical partner. For the Nacht van de Verbeelding, she invited two musician friends to create a new musical work to accompany a different painting from the Museum of Fine Arts' collection each time. Together with and Sterre Konijn (soprano) and Vincent Houdijk (vibraphone), she walks with the audience from painting to painting, briefly bringing each image out of its eternal sleep with a unique soundtrack.
